Vannah's Fairy Smock

After almost 24hrs of no internet access I decided to do some sewing to bide the time. I used a pattern found here. I made a few changes including adding button holes to the front straps so that I can feed the cross over straps into these and then securing by tying a knot. Next time I will allow extra strap length as they just weren't quite long enough for me but otherwise lovely pattern and very easy. From cutting out pattern to on Savannah took about 1.5hrs including some dash's for puppy attendance and solving disputes between the girls :) So here are some pics of Vannah modelling her smock. It is fully reversible plain pink cotton on the reverse side and a pocket on each side (attached before sewing together). I think I need to work on my pocket shape as I just quickly drew this by hand.

This is the next item I am adding to my to sew list other than the EB sewing challenge to make another Margaret Sling Bag that I am racking my brain as to the creative elements to.

OUCH!

I think that I have broken my little toe *sob sob*

In honour of full day Kindy

Tomorrow my baby girl starts her full two day Kindy program. I made her a sheet set and a bag to put them in. She is very excited to be having sleeps at Kindy tomorrow. So here are some photos of the drawstring bag. Pattern can be found here.

Kylie's Giveaway

I stubbled across this giveaway through another friend's blog. What a very generous thing to do and a great way to achieve some decluttering. I must put this on my to do list.

I am hoping to make a quilt soon for a great friend on mine's bub that is due VERY soon so best get a bit of mojo going and get organised...

Brandy's new favourite toy

Brandy is definitely showing her love for chewing today and has found a new best friend in a squeeky bone toy, and another great opportunity to take photos of her. So here they are...

Brandy also had her first splash in the pool. She lurrrrves water and started out by playing a game in her water bowl making a big mess of that so we decided it would be easier just to let her have the clam shell to have a splash in. She had an awesome time and sure will be a frequent activity from now on.

My love

I just wanted to share with all of you that I have the BEST husband ever!

He is my everything and don't know what I would do without him. Here are some photos of what arrived for me early Valentines morning :)

Welcome Home Brandy!

We went and picked up Brandy yesterday. She was a little frightened for a minute but then warmed to us very quickly. She has been having fun exploring her new home and lots of trips out in the rain to do to her business. I had forgotten how much wee they can have in reserve all the time. A few accidents here and there but for the most part success on the grass.

We are also still finding our legs in all of this and trying to work out the best arrangement of her crate, food and water etc.

Both of the girls absolutly LOVE her. Savannah gets bowled over a littler more than she likes and learning to push her off but Chloe has playing with her down pat and is hard to seperate the two for very long.

A few photos from last night...

Handmade Help

The fires in Victoria and New South Wales are a devestating event and one that has affected me so much over the past few days. I am so very sorry for all those lives lost and forever changed because of the fires. My family and I will be donating what money we can but there are so many things these families have lost and will never recover.

I became aware of a project that has been set up and will be trying to help out where I can. These two links will give more details of what is being organised to try and help ease the pain for all those affected by the fires. Handmade Help & Meet me at Mike's.
I will be donating these sock monkey's that I made last year and will also try and get some other things made up real soon to donate also.

Weekend Away

Two weekends ago we went on a short trip to Hervey Bay to visit my parents and help my Mum organise some things for their upcoming overseas trip. The girls always love visiting my parents and means being spoilt rotten and lots of swimming. Thought I would share some photos of us while we waited for Pa to get back into the harbour.

Brandy

I am getting so excited we get to pick up our puppy, Brandy on Friday. She is an 8 week old Australian Bulldog. Here is the last picture of her that we have taken at 4 weeks old.

I have set up her sleeping area and crate and although a few more things to buy here are some pics. Note our cat Summer in the first photo she is sensing that something is up and very unsure about this new contraption in her area, I hope that she isn't too put out by Brandy's arrival.

So more chew toys are on the list as to is her food and some freeze dried liver treats or something similar for rewards.

Margaret Sling Bags

I have been talking of some projects for some birthday presents. The part is tonight YAY a cocktail party so thought it was safe to finally blog some pictures of my finished products including some extra's that I have made using a pattern I have revised. So here are the first two I made:
Alexander Henry Pink Starling with black inner:

Moda's Flutterfly Snails outer with Little Creatures inner:

In my recent fabric binge I bought a heap of fat quarters and was dying to try them out so I downscaled the pattern for the Margaret Sling so that it would fit on a far quarter, it is more a purse sling and this is what I have come up with.

The first photo is a comparison of the two sizes (Pink Starling & Breeze Tile):

Michael Millers Breeze Tile with blue inner:

Michael Millers Garden Collage with pink gingham inner:

Mission Completion!

Last night I finished off the second of my birthday presents that I posted about here. I am very happy with the end results and can't wait to give them to the birthday girls. I will definitely be putting one of these on my to do list for myself also.

So now that I have finished these I am already thinking what is next... Well first on the growing list is to get Chloe's Kindy sheets and a drawstring bag made so when she starts full days she has something to sleep on. I am still not fully decided on what to do for the kindy sheets as yet. Will either be a variation of the link above or I may just try and use some old sheets and blankets to sort of re-sew and make a set from them and thus saving a few $$$$.

Oh and photos of the birthday presents to come next week.

Pettiskirt

I picked up one of my pettiskirts from Princess Ratbag on Friday and since then I have not been able to keep it off Chloe. Who can blame her it is sooo cute. Although an overcast day today I just couldnt turn down the chance to take a few photos of her in it.

The many faces of Chloe:

My challenge for the week.

After having a whole month where I have not touched my sewing machine or any craft, I went on a fabric binge and after a quick google search have come up with some challenges. The list of things that I want to try and achieve is growing but for this week I have two items that I would love to try and accomplish. I can't go into great detail as these are presents for people who "know where I live" so to speak :) But they will be celebrating a joint 30th Birthday party this Saturday night so I literally have less than a week to get this done.

Hopefully I can come in here on Saturday with the great news of accomplishment complete and then some photos of the finished product next week.

Wish me luck!
